The Lagos State Commissioner of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Idris Salako said he was alarmed by the levels of destruction caused by hoodlums who took advantage of #EndSARS protest and raised District offices of his ministry situated in ibeju lekki, Lagos island, Ajeromi ifelodun as well as material Testing laboratory with location at ojodu Berger.
The Commissioner who was in the company of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban Development Ganiyu Adele, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Arc Foluso Dipe and the General Managers of Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA), Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency ( LASURA) and Lagos state material Testing Laboratory (LSMTL) On Assessments tour was alarmed at the level of Destruction where structures, equipment and documents were completely raised.
A statement made available to urban Express-News Online through the Director of Public Affairs in the ministry, Mr Mukaila Sanusi quoted the commissioner, Dr Idris Salako as saying the government had taken inventory of the affected asset and is ramping up efforts to redress the situation.
“While the unfortunate incidents are capable of bringing about untold hardship on Lagos inhabitants especially property owners and developers, the staff of the ministry must take a cue from the governor of Lagos, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu who has risen above the crises and communicated hope to the people of the state by declaring that Lagos will rise again”.
Salako stated; “concerted efforts were ongoing to ensure that people in the affected areas were able to process their application for planning permit and other approvals, adding that the state would expedite action on the initiative to strengthen the Lagos state planning information centre for the maintenance of durable planning records.
