The Lagos State Police Command said it has arrested fifteen Armed robbers and cultists with Arms and ammunition terrorising strategic locations of Ajah, lekki areas of the state.
Sp Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement said the command as been on the trail of criminals who have been terrorising Lagos inhabitants at strategic locations.
His word; “ As part of its efforts to protects lives and property in Lagos, the state police command had trails criminals who had been terrorising Lagos residents especially in ikorodu, lekki and Ajah.
“On 28 12, 2020, while responding to a distress call from Agunfoye, a location at ikorodu, the police surveillance team attached to ikorodu division of the command arrested one Taiye lasisi (20) with a locally made revolver pistol”.
Adejobi said after his arrest, a search was extended to other black spots in the area where thirteen other suspected cultists belonging to Aiye confraternity were arrested.
Those arrested include Segun Ariyo Aka Zangalo who was once arrested and transferred to the disbanded Special Anti-robbery squad in Lagos.
Others are kazeem Akinpelu, Ibrahim oni, Tobi Awoyefa, Yusuf okunlowo, Oyesanya Damola, Bola Hassan, Toheeb Adeshina, Hassan Ahiru, Onafowokan Michael, folahan Adeola, Damilola Adeola, Julius ihara.
Exhibits recovered include eight iPhones, two techno phones, one Nokia phone, three bags, one black belt, one white handkerchief containing four lighters one black nylon containing some local charms, live ammunition, and two black 25-litre kegs containing skuchies.
Meanwhile, police operatives in Akodo on 28th of December 2020, at about 4 am, arrested one suspected cultist identified as Lekan Razak, 20, while attempting to rob at a location specifically at no.25, Ibomide Street, ibeju lekki in Lagos.
The statement put further that the suspected cultist who has confessed to be a member of Eiye confraternity was arrested with a locally made pistol with some live cartridges.
The commissioner of police, Lagos state, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered for the transfer of the suspects to the state criminal investigation Department with a location at panti for discrete investigation, also reiterated zero tolerance for cultism and other crimes in the state.
