The Police inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu Mohammed has warned officers and Men against using force on peaceful protesters in the country.
Urban Express News Online report the trending development of protesters, infiltration of hoodlums in lagos and Abuja, the directives of the Covid-19 committee banning every protest in Abuja and the killing that took place in Surulere where a 55-year-old bus driver was killed with stray bullet.
In a statement entitled: IGP Warn Police Officers Against use of Force on Peaceful Protesters and that which was made available to Urban Express News Online through the Force Public Relation Officer, Dcp Frank Mba said all officers across the country against the use of force on peaceful protesters.
He said the Igp note that citizens have fundamental rights of freedom of expression, assembly and movement which must always be upheld and protected by the police
The FPPRO said the inspector general of police, Adamu Mohammed has however appeal to protesters to continually conduct themselves peacefully and guide the ranks against infiltration by criminal elements
The IGP stress that the force leadership has clearly heard the voice of the people and is irrevocably committed to doing everything within its powers to address the observed ills, punish any offending officers and promote a people-friendly police force
