Wanted cultist identified as Segun Agodo has been Arrested over multiple allegations of killings and murder cases which until recently the killings of a policeman in ikorodu area of the state
Explaining further, the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Sunday that Segun, who had been on the wanted list of the command, was arrested during surveillance patrolled by the Divisional Police Officer, Sagamu Road Division, CSP Adekunle Omisakin.
Adejobi said, “Police detectives attached to the Sagamu Road Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, along Sagamu Road, Ikorodu, on Sunday, April 4, 2021, around 10 am, apprehended a wanted serial killer and cultist, Segun Agodo, in the Odogunyan area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
“Segun, a senior member of the Eiye Confraternity, had been on the run for a while since he got the wind that he had been declared wanted by the police for his atrocities in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. But he was sighted in Ikorodu on Sunday, April 4, 2021, while the DPO, Sagamu Road Division, and his men were on surveillance patrol around Ikorodu.
“The suspect, who has been fingered in many murder cases, including the alleged killing of a policeman in Ikorodu, was arrested in possession of two locally-made revolver pistols loaded with seven and 14 cartridges, one axe, some cutlasses and assorted charms.”
Similarly, police operatives attached to the Festac Division, on April 3, 2021, around 3 pm, arrested Jonas Nnubia, 43, for allegedly defiling his wife’s niece at 1st Avenue, L Close, in the Festac area of the state.
Adejobi said the victim, who was taken to the police station in company with some officials of the Child Protection Network, Lagos State, alleged that the suspect had defiled her several times and threatened that she would die if she disclosed his criminal acts to anyone.
In another developments police detectives attached to the Alakuko Division, on Friday, April 2, 2021, around 5.30 am, also arrested one Sola Akinwole, 27, when he and his gang members were robbing at a car/motorcycle shop located at Amje bus stop in the Alakuko area of the state.
“The police detectives raced to the scene while responding to a distress call from the shop. The suspected armed robbers had shot one of the guards at the shop, Tairu Baba, 20 before the police arrived at the scene. One locally-made pistol and four cartridges were recovered from the suspect,” Adejobi said
The PPRO stated, “The victim has been taken to hospital for necessary medical examination and attention in order to assist the police in carrying out their discreet investigation into the matter.
“The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the suspects involved in the cases be transferred to the SCIID for proper investigation and possible prosecution.
“The police boss further stated that the command would leave no stone unturned in making sure that Lagos State was rid of criminals, especially cultists, who are the major perpetrators of crimes and social vices in the state. He also promised to continually partner with the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and other interest groups in fighting against gender/domestic-based violence in the state.”
