The shooting that took place in ijebu-ode where the victim shot at the incident identified as Akorede is responding to treatment, the ogun police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, has said.

Urban Express-News gathered the victim, Akorede was driving on Wednesday along Odogbolu, ijebu-ode axis of the state when some policemen stopped him, the officer was said to combing his vehicle when one of them suddenly brought out a gun and shot him on his leg

A witness, Dammy, using his Twitter handle @eyebee247, claimed that Akorede did nothing to warrant the attack.

“Police brutality is still ongoing. This happened during a stop and search in Odogbolu, Ijebu Ode, yesterday, 13th October 2021. The victim, Akorede, was stopped and suddenly this police officer brought out his gun and shot him without provocation,” he tweeted.

A video clip attached to the post showed the victim writhing in pain while sitting in a red car, as blood dripped from his leg.

In another video clip, Dammy could be heard calling for help.

 “Akorede has been shot; the police have shot Akorede. Akorede has been shot, help us please,” he said while recording the incident.

The policeman who allegedly perpetrated the crime was also seen sitting on the ground.

But Reacting to the Developments, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the policemen involved in the incident had been arrested, adding that probe into the case was ongoing.

He said, “The incident happened in Oru, Ijebu, and the policeman in question has been arrested and is being investigated.

 The policemen were on official duty when the incident happened, and the reason we are investigating the policeman in question is to know the reason he did that. The victim has been taken to a hospital and has been responding to treatment.”
