The police public relation officer in oyo Sp Olugbenga Fadeyi confirmed to journalists the news of Sunday Shodipe, the 19-year-old suspect who escaped from lawful custody saying he is back in their custody.

The CP had earlier said in a statement said an Inspector who was not on duty opened the cell and brought out the suspect to take his bath where he disappeared.

The serial killer was alleged to have  killed five people in June  within Akinyele local government prompting Oyo state commissioner of police relocating to mokola  where Shodipe was subsequently arrested

In an interview, the suspect narrated how herbalist used to send him to kill, adding that he attacked his victims with a shovel, the suspect who was initially kept in a Police Division in mokola following court order escaped on August 11th and was rearrested yesterday.

Meanwhile the inspector general of Police, IGP Adamu Mohammed in statement commended the commissioner of police in Oyo state, Nwachukwu Enwonmu and his team for rearresting the suspect.

The statement read in part; The Nigeria police force, Oyo state command has rearrested the notorious murder suspect, Sunday Shodipe, who escaped from lawful custody on 11th August, 2020, and was rearrested on Sunday, 23th August, 2020 by the police operatives in the bodija area of Ibadan, the oyo state capital

“The IGP also warned the state police command against complacency in a statement by the force police public relation officer, Frank Mba.

“The IGP, however, request all the operatives of the Oyo state police command to ensure all hands must be on deck in bringing the case to a positive and successful closure”.
