“Preemptive activities of Developers, who took undue advantage of the unfolding review to indiscriminately increase density in the estate, had occasioned complaints and fears about the new approval order when it finally birthed”

This was the submission of the commissioner of physical planning and urban Development, Dr Idris Salako in arriving at a decision suspending further construction works going on in the Palmgroove estate in Lagos.

In a statement signed by its Director of Media Affairs, Mr Mukaila Sanusi and that which was sighted by urban Express-News stated that the Lagos state government has ordered the immediate suspension of all building construction works in Palmgroove estate, pending the resolution of complaints emanating from the review of the Approval order of the state.

The statement put further; that the commissioner, Dr salako, made this known during a meeting with stakeholders of the estate.

That the new review was necessary to accommodate growth and development with the understanding of maintaining low-density features since the early 1950s.

The special adviser to the governor on land and physical planning Dr Olajide Babatunde was quoted as saying owners of Palmgroove estate is expected to embrace the review as it was imperative  for the development of the estate while the ministry’s permanent secretary, Engr Abiola Kosegbe assured that the ministry would take a critical look at all claims with the understanding of resolving them in the interest of all stakeholders, the statement read
