Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC have arrested serving military personnel identified as Lance corporal Ajayi Kayode and 26 others for alleged internet fraud in lekki axis of Lagos state.

A statement obtained from the commission’s website said the Lagos zonal office of the commission undertook the operation.

It was learnt that lance corporal Kayode Ajayi was a serving Airforceman with service number NAF 18/34732 and was arrested in his military uniform during the early hours raid the operatives undertook at 6b, fatal Idowu Arobike Lekki phase 1 on Saturday, August 15, 2020.

The statement put further that the action follows after the commission followed through an intelligence report it received from concerned members of the public of the soldier’s alleged involvement in criminal activities.

The 26 other members arrested include; Kalu Emmanue, Hassan Sunday, David Okem, Victor ologhu, Alex Aka, Miracle Onyekwere, Habeeb Ayomide, Olakunle Ajeigbu, Rasheed Olarewaju and Salam Hakeem.

Others are Adeniran Nurudeen;  Opeyemi Ojo Chris;  Derrick Moris;  Shehu Oluoti;  Fuad Akinbayo;  Babatunde Idowu; Uzo Igwe Nathaniel;  Debowale Adedoyin;  Shegun Emmanuel;  Godswill Maduchem; Samson Kazeem; Oluwatobi Oluwatoba, Olaitan Ajao and Oyindamola Kareem.

Items recovered include diamond jewellery, exotic cars and expensive phones.

Lance corporal Kayode was quoted as saying the Big shot Yahoo boys in whose company he was arrested were his friends and that they had been teaching him how to make money through cybercrime.

While the “boys” are members of Organised Cyber Criminal Syndicate Network, OCCSN, the ladies arrested with them confirmed the involvement of their “boyfriends” in internet fraud. Suspects will be charged to court soon, the statement read!
