“The First Defaulter (Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan) was found guilty of Discreditable conduct by Acting in a manner prejudiced to discipline and unbecoming of members of the force by shooting and killing kolade Johnson; unlawful and unnecessary exercise of Authority by using Unnecessary Violence, using Ak 47 rifle on the deceased in total neglect to the provisions of force order234 on the use of firearm as the Adjudicating officer Csp Indyar Apev Awarded dismissal from service to the first defaulter (Insp. Ogunyemi Olalekan) and Acquit the Second Defaulter (Sgt Godwin Orji) because of lack of evidence”
This was the outcome of the police orderly room trail that adjudicates over the two police officers that were allegedly involved in the shooting of kolade Johnson along onipesi that was later arrested by the police authority with revealing their identities to be from the command’s anti-cultism team.
The Lagos state police public relation officer Dsp Bala Elkana disclosed this in a statement made available to urban express news online saying the verdict came up after their trial which he said commenced on Monday 01-04-2019 and ended on Thursday 04-04-2019
He said the alleged defaulters were tried on a three-count charge which include discreditable conduct, unlawful and unnecessary exercise of authority and damage to clothing or other article contrary to paragraph E(111), Q(11) and D(1) first schedule, police act and regulations cap 370 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN)1990.
“The Trail started with the reading of charges and taking a plea where also, five witnesses testified”.
He said At the conclusion of the trial, the first defaulter, inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan was found guilty while the second defaulter (Sgt Godwin Orji) was not because of lack of evidence.
“Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan is to be handed over to the criminal investigation department, Panti for prosecution in a conventional court, the statement read”
