The Lagos state police said it has arrested seventeen hoodlums that was said to be attacking, harassing and dispossessing members of orile Iganmu inhabitants of their belongings.
In a statement titled; Lagos Police Neutralize, Arrest 17 Deadly Armed Hoodlums and that which was signed by the Lagos State Police Public Relation officer, Sp Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in its bid to get Lagos state rid of cultism, hooliganism and violent crimes, police attached to Iganmu division have arrested 17 suspects.
The PPRO said the command has intensify efforts to neutralize various groups of deadly armed hoodlums, cultism and miscreants, who are fond of causing pain and agonies to innocent residents, especially, inhabitants within the state.
He said the developments were premised on the state police command’s proactive measures to curbing crimes.
Continuing, Sp Olumuyiwa said police operatives attached to orile division of the command , on Monday 14th September, 2020 arrested (17) seventeen armed hoodlums who were harassing inhabitants of Zion, mosalasi and ikale street Iganmu area specifically at sasi area with dangerous weapon.
The suspects include Afolabi (18), Adeniyi Fawaz (18), Ezekiel Kehinde (16), Babatunde Toheeb (17), olarewaju Quadri (19), Sunday okon (16), Mohammed usman (17), Ayinla Teslim (18), Ayantuja Daniel 17, Prince Ogunbgemi 17, Open Semiu 18, Abeeb Ajayi 14 Toheeb Iyiyemi 14, Omokunle Tomola 16, Faruk Babatunde 20, Damilare Alabi 15.
“Based on the preliminary findings by the police, the hoodlums have not been linked to any of the existing cult group in Lagos, but have various factions that ferment trouble, engage in crimes and social vices and free for all in the said areas”
‘The commissioner of police lagos state command , CP Hakeem Odumosu, while reaffirming his zero tolerance for cultism and other social vices, ordered the suspects to be profiled, investigated and charged to court without any delay in order to nip their criminal potential and tendencies in the bud”.
He further assured the general public of the zeal of the police, under the amiable leadership and in line with the ideological perspectives of the inspector general of police, to adopt modern and effective anti-crime strategies to provide adequate security for all and sundry in Nigeria, particularly in Lagos state
