Operatives
of the Lagos state police command has foiled an attempt by a car snatcher syndicate
to snatch a Peugeot car along mosalashi area, within Badagry Express-way
specifically in mile-2 where it recovered firearm and arrested its gang leader.

A
statement from the Lagos state police public relation officer, Dsp Bala Elkana
said anti-crime patrol team from the satellite police station was able to avert it,
as one Francis Abubakar who indeed happened to be their gang leader was
arrested.


He
said one locally-made shotgun was recovered from the suspect.

Elkana
said the Peugeot 307 car recovered and has been handed over to the owner adding
that the special Anti-robbery squad (SARS) has taken over the case with a view
of apprehending other members of the gang.

The  spokesman said an investigation is on-going, and that suspects will charge to
court.

In
a similar vein, the command also foiled another attempt bank robbery at Ejigbo
after receiving a distress call that some armed robbers on a motorcycle were
operating outside a bank along Egbe road adjacent NNPC junction.

The  statement put further that patrol team deployed from the Ejigbo police station to reinforce
the mobile policemen on duty at the bank engaged the armed robbers in a gun
battle.

The police spokesman said the armed robbers were overpowered and chased up to Egbe where
their ring leader was arrested with bullet wounds while others escaped.

” one Brownie pistol with one ammunition was
recovered adding that a sum of two hundred and fifty thousand earlier robbed
from a female victim was equally recovered and handed over to her”.

Elkana
said the special anti-robbery squad have taken over the investigation as
efforts are emplaced to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang
