The police service commission (psc) has dismissed nine police officers and demoted six others for different cases of misconduct
It also approved severe punishment for five others and seriously reprimand for another five
According to the commission, the decision was reached following the outcome of its fifth plenary meeting.
The meeting held in Abuja on March 26th and 27th, and was presided over by the commission’s chairman, a retired inspector general of police, musiliu smith.
The nine officers dismissed include Abdul Ahmed, a superintendent of police (sp)
Who would also be prosecuted as well as Adamu Abare another SP who had also had his promotion from SP to CSP withdrawn before his dismissal
Others are Dsp Osondu Christian Dsp Samson Ahmidu and Dsp Pius Timiala who would be prosecuted and whose promotion Dsp to sp was withdrawn
Four ASPs Agatha Usman Esther Yahaya, Idris Shehu and Usman Dass were also dismissed for various wrongdoings
On the other hand, olwatoyin Adesope and Mansir Bako were demoted from sp to Dsp while Gbenle Mathew, Tijani saifulahi Sadiq and Alice Abbah were reduced from the rank of Dsp to Asp
One officer, cp Austin Agbonlahor was however exonerated
The commission asked the acting IGP Mr Mohammed Adamu to give detailed information on the punishment awarded to other officers mentioned in the police investigation reports involving sp Abare, with regard to irregularities in the conduct of the 2011 recruitment exercise.
It also said it has conveyed its decision to the police boss through a letter signed by the permanent secretary and secretary to the commission Nnamdi Maurice mbaeri for implementation
Meanwhile, the Lagos state police command said it is still on the trail of Abductors of Director of Lagos state fire service and six others.
The statement put further that the Lagos state commissioner of police, zubairu Muazu had tasked the command’s Anti kidnapping unit to ensure that they rescue the seven persons abducted by some hoodlums suspected to be kidnapper along Iwoye Bridge, itoiki with a location in Epe.
In a statement made available through the Lagos state police public relation officer, Bala Elkana said the commissioner of police in the company of tactical units commanders visits the crime scene in early hours of today and assured the families of the victims that the command is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the victim are rescued unhurt
“Those Abducted include Rasaki Musibau (M), Mufutau Adamu (M) Fumilayo Aadelumo (F) Asiogu Martha(F), Lasisi Muka (M), and two other recovered vehicles from the scene which include Toyota Sienna, Toyota Corolla and Opel Jeep”
The ppro said the command has assured Lagos residence of their safety at all times as it has intensified patrols and surveillance along itoiki Epe Ketu road eriyun and other major highways in the state
