Ongoing construction of Shapatta Road within Victoria garden city in Lagos has been suspended by the Lagos state government due to what it described as uncoordinated physical developments and non-alignments.
A statement coming from the Director of Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi said during a routine monitoring visit on Wednesday, the commissioner of physical planning and urban Development, Dr salako noted with dismay the alarming rate of illegal and haphazard development going on along Harrison drive with a location at Shapatta behind Victoria garden city.
The statement put further; that he expressed concern that the inordinate ambition of developers who had to continue to take undue advantage of the regional road project by building indiscriminately along the axis, was capable of causing blightedness from the onset.
“Dr Salako reiterated that the urban and regional planning law 2019 (as amended) was very much in force as no legal building construction would be allowed in the state”
That the commissioner gave all unapproved developments in the area fourteen days (14) to regularize with the ministry and subsequently issue a suspension order on fresh developments.
He urged prompt compliance with the state government’s directive, warning that government would henceforth not hesitate to remove any uncoupling developments, the statement reads.
