More Encomiums have started pouring in on late Pa Fasanmi whose news of his death was announced in the early hours of yesterday wednesday.
Urban express News gathered the burial of the former senator of the second republic and a former house of representatives member is slated for next week Tuesday of 4th of August 2020.
President Buhari had described the former second republic senator, Pa Ayo Fasanmi as a big loss to Nigeria while the national leader of All Progressive Party, Ahmed Bola Tinubu says the Afenifere leader remains his mentor and that he was an advocate of true federalism.
In a separated statement obtained by urban Express-News online, president Mohammadu Buhari through his Media Adviser, Femi Adeshina quoted the as saying the Afenifere leader would be missed as he remains a big loss to the country as a whole.
The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari joins Yoruba socio-cultural and political organisation, Afenifere, in mourning the passing of Pa Ayorinde Fasanmi, describing his death as a big loss to the nation.
“The President condoles with people and government of Osun and Ekiti States, family members, friends and associates of the elder statesman, who served as a legislator in both House of Representatives and Senate and distinguished himself politically by always standing for the truth, especially on issues related to the uplifting of the downtrodden.
“President Buhari affirms that Chief Fasanmi’s wise counsels borne out of humility, deep reflection, diligent studies and experience will be sorely missed by governments at different levels, as he regularly and willingly listened to leaders, and always had a piece of good advice on going forward.
“As an ardent follower and prodigy of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the President believes the fearless and consistent leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural and political organisation lived to serve his people and the nation, and the progressive ideals that he projected impacted greatly and provided a road map on development at state and federal levels.
“President Buhari notes, with commendation, that the efforts of Chief Fasanmi in the founding and sustenance of Nigeria’s democracy will be remembered, and posterity will be glad for his great sacrifices.
“The President prays that the Almighty God will receive the soul of the departed leader, and comfort his family.”
Meanwhile, the All Progressive Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu said the deceased was a true progressive who until death, remained an advocate of true federalism
The former governor of Lagos State said when Fasanmi took ill recently; he spoke to him and continued to monitor his health.
The APC leader said, “I had a close relationship with Papa Fasanmi, dating back many years. He was a mentor and role model to me and many others who believe in progressive politics as a means to uplift our society and its people.
“When Papa was recently admitted to the hospital for age-related sickness, I spoke to him and followed up with his close aide to monitor his situation.
“As Afenifere leader, he was a true believer in the importance of fiscal federalism as essential for the growth of Nigeria. His vision for our nation was a coherent and correct one.”
Tinubu commiserated with the Afenifere family including its leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, and APC leader, Chief Bisi Akande, over the death of their bosom friend.
He said with Fasanmi’s passing, Nigeria had lost someone special and excellent in every way.
