A building situated in a Location within
ikotun specifically at Adisa Street was said to be used for child trafficking.

A statement from the Lagos state police
public relation officer Dsp Bala Elkana said; a team of detectives after acting
on strength of information from a reliable source stormed the said building
suspected to used for child trafficking and was able to rescue 19 pregnant
girls with age ranging between 15 and 28 years were rescued.

Elkana said four kids were equally rescued.



We equally rescued some at different
location aside from the one earlier mentioned, and that which include 32,
owosho street along governors road, another location at 29 Olugbeyohun Street
along olakunle bus stop Abaranje and 4 Anomo street at the same location known as
Abaranje.

The spokesman said the pregnant women were
brought from rivers, cross river, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, Abia and imo state.

Two suspects with name happiness Ukwuoma
40, and sherifat ipeya 54 was arrested in connection with the case.
The said suspects accordingly did not receive
formal medical training but operate as nurses.

Elkana said the suspects are natives of imo
and Epe in Lagos respectively.

“The command has launched a manhunt of the
principal suspect identified as madam oluchi a native of mbano in imo state
with five children”.

He said young women were mostly abducted by
suspects for the purpose of getting them pregnant and selling the babies to
potential buyers.

The girls were tricked with employment as
domestic staff in Lagos adding that babies are sold between N300, 000 and N500,
000 depending on the sex.

“The Lagos state commissioner of police
CP.zubairu Muazu has visited the scene and ordered the state criminal
investigation department to take over the case”.

He said the command is working with other
agencies and stakeholders in rehabilitating and resettling the pregnant girls
and babies.

“An investigation is ongoing and that suspects
will be charged to court, the statement read!
