The police in Akwa-Ibom said it has arrested a six-man gang car snatcher after acting on credible intelligence

The robbery gang whose speciality is car snatching between Akwa-Ibom and cross rivers was said to have engaged the police in a gun duel before they eventually meet their waterloo.

This disclosure was made in a press briefing coming from the Akwa-Ibom commissioner of police, CP Amiengheme Andrew where he said on receipt intelligence, the state Anti-robbery operation proceeded to the scene and on sighting the police Hilux, the hoodlum opened fire on police operatives, engages them in a gun duel as six robbers sustained gunshot wounds.

He said they were taken to a police hospital for treatment as six of them were confirmed dead by the doctor.

Exhibits recovered include three locally-made pistols, ten live cartridges four extended four cartridges, one pomp action, one unregistered motorcycle, military camouflage, cap and a Toyota Camry with registration  LSR 690 BM snatched from its victim, one Dr Arinze Obinna, a physiotherapist at the general hospital in Calabar.

Continuing, CP Andrew said on 30th of September one Felix Kingsley was arrested by the state criminal investigation unit of the state based on a petition from a lady claiming she was hypnotized, raped and that the suspect made a video of the incident and used it to blackmail her by demanding a sum of two hundred thousand Naira from her, failure to which he will release the sex video on social media.

CP Andrew said further investigation into the activities revealed that he is a long-standing serial rapist and blackmail

Meanwhile operative also arrests four cultists after following-up on a distress call.

The statement put further that the Eket division apprehended four cultists with name Abraham Bright (19), Samson Emmanuel udo (31), sunny Okon Sunday (27), Prince Lawrence Okon (32).

He said suspects allegedly fired some shots in the Air sporadically during a burial ceremony at Edebuk village, adding that during an investigation, the suspect confessed being members of supreme Vikings confraternity.

Exhibits recovered include one locally made pistol, one live cartridge and one expanded cartridges.

The command remains determined to sustain the tempo in crime fighting and protection of lives and properties.
