The
Lagos state police command said it has arrested One Charles Obilomo (37) whose resident is situated at Bara Ayetoro Street off boundary at Apapa and Osita Onyeka
(35) of wasai Area at Orile after hijacking a tanker loaded with 40 thousand
litres of premium motor spirit (PMS) from a 42-year-old Mohammed Yauri along Iyana

Explaining
what transpired, the Lagos State Police Public Relation officer; Dsp Bala
Elkana said operatives from itire Police Division arrested a tanker loaded with premium motor spirit with specification  DAF 85 and registration
number Gage 743 XN after acting on a strength of information at itire pin-down point alongside mile 2.

He
said the tanker driver, Mohammed Yauri, an indigene of Kebbi state and his
conductor, Lawali Mande who hails from Minna in Niger state got their truck
loaded with 40 thousand premium motor spirits  (PMS)at swift deport  in Apapa and was billed for kotangora, their
final destination in Niger state.

The spokesman quoted the truck driver as saying ‘alongside itire to mile 2, four men in military
uniform stopped him and ask what products was he carrying before ordering him
and his conductor out of the tanker and enter a red Toyota corolla”.

Elkana
said the two hijackers  identified as Charles obllomo and osita Onyeka
took possession of the tanker, adding that both the driver and conductor were
sandwiched by those four men in military uniform inside the Toyota corolla.

“Just
as the tanker was driving behind the Toyota Corolla, heading towards an unknown
destination, it was intercepted by the police”.  
The
Ppro said the tanker driver, Mohammed Yauri, initially thought the hijackers
are military men on stop and search duty not until they started beating him and
his conductor and threatened to kill them if they refuse to follow their orders that it was dawn on them.

“The
two suspects were arrested inside the tanker and taken to the station while other
four suspects in military uniforms escaped with bullet wounds after a fierce
battle with police”.

He
said the tanker and Toyota corolla were recovered and moved to the police station, adding that two pairs of vehicle plate numbers and military caps were equally recovered inside the corolla.

Continuing,
elkana said the tanker containing premium motor spirit ( PMS) was handed over
to the owner, Sani samila as he was full of gratitude to the Lagos state
commissioner of police for coming to their rescue.

“The
commissioner of police, cp Hakeem Odumosu has directed the commander special Anti
robbery squad (SARS) to take over the investigation and ensure that those
fleeing suspects are arrested”.

Elkana
said suspect will be charged to court.
