The Zonal monitoring Unit of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Ogun and Lagos have arrested one Ishola Sunday, a 22-year-old, who was said to have concealed a substance suspected to be hemp valuing about hundred bags with ten motorcycles.
The zonal police public relation officer, Dsp Hauwa Idris in a statement said a team of operative from the zonal monitoring unit swung into action and moved to Ibara orile linking okedi village along Abeokuta-imeko road where the ambush was laid.
This accordingly was due to information received on 7th of August, 2020 that criminal element is smuggling arms and ammunition into the country through imeko border.
It was learnt that the smugglers surprisingly changed their route and decided to converge elsewhere base on the information from their spies who usually go before them to see if the road is free in other for them to move.
The ZPPRO said while they await the truck arranged to convey the smuggled items to their destination in a border village between Ogun and Oyo state, operatives arrived and they all took to hills, leaving behind the smuggled items which were later discovered to be weeds, suspected to be hemp and their motorcycles
One of the suspects, Ishola Sunday was however not lucky as he was arrested with the motorcycles and consignment
She said efforts are in top gear to arrest fleeing suspects as investigation is in progress while suspect will be charged to court upon completion for prosecution
