Flying Eagles goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt has said the team will now push to win the title at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations after securing a berth at the World Cup.
Nigeria defeated defending champions Senegal, 3-1 on penalties in a fiercely contested quarter-final tie in Ismailia on Monday.
Aliyu Zubairu’s side will face the Amajita of South Africa in the semi-final at the Suez Canal Stadium, Ismailia, on Thursday.
Harcourt, who made two superb saves in the shootout win against Senegal, stated that they want to become African champions again.
“We are not celebrating yet,” Harcourt declared after the game.
“Getting the World Cup ticket was our most important goal, and we’re grateful to have achieved that. But our full focus is now on finishing the job — we want to be African champions.”
