Former international Victor Ikpeba has backed Victor Osimhen to break the all-time Super Eagles goals record held by the legendary Rashidi Yekini.

Osimhen moved to second position on the list after bagging a brace in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over the Amavubi of Rwanda last Friday.

The 26-year-old has so far scored 25 goals in 39 appearances for the Super Eagles.

He is just 12 shy of Yekini’s record of 37.

Ikpeba said the Napoli striker is on course to beat Yekini’s record.

“By the way he is going, Osimhen will soon eclipse the record of Yekini,” predicted Ikpeba.

“He’s a fantastic lad and a committed player who gives everything for the country.

“We will soon see when he will break this record.”
