Real Madrid has informed incoming manager Xabi Alonso that the final decision on new players will be made by the LaLiga club.
Alonso has confirmed he is set to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
The Spaniard is expected to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid and is already looking to shape his squad.
According to Relevo, Alonso asked the club to sign Martin Zubimendi but they insisted on not planning to sign a no.6 this summer.
Madrid told Alonso that they appreciate his insight, but the final decision on signings are made by the club, not him.
It is understood that the former midfielder respected their decision.
Zubimendi is believed to have a verbal agreement to join Arsenal from Real Sociedad.
