Al-Ahly forward, Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan, has sent a clear warning to Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami team ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup opening game.
He said they are concerned with big names such as Lionel Messi and remain confident of overcoming the Americans.
Inter Miami and Egyptian Premier League side Al-Ahly SC will meet in the first game of the tournament at the Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday.
Both sides will be aiming to get their tournament off to a positive start with the opening game.
The Herons have struggled for consistency under Argentine coach Javier Mascherano this season.
The Major League Soccer side has the likes of Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba in their lineup.
Speaking about the prospect of facing Messi, Trezeguet said, as reported by Soccer Laduma, “Facing Lionel Messi? All the players are focused on this match. We will face big names, but when Al-Ahly SC participates in a tournament, we don’t look at any name. Our fans support us. We can overcome all obstacles.”
He went on to explain that every player in the team, both the new ones, are considered veterans.
The 2024-25 Egyptian Premier League champions are in Group A, alongside Inter Miami, Porto, and Palmeiras.
