Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspects over alleged involvement in cultism and vehicle vandalism.
According to a statement posted on the RRS Facebook page on Tuesday, one suspect was arrested last Wednesday at about 10 p.m. in the Oshodi area while reportedly carrying a locally made pistol and two live rounds of ammunition. The arrest was based on intelligence gathered by the RRS.
In another development on Saturday around 4 a.m., two suspects, 25-year-old Kazeem Oyebola and 35-year-old Olamilekan Babalola, were caught loading six Ford Escape tyres, rims, and other vehicle parts into a Suzuki minibus near Otedola Bridge. The minibus bore the registration number LSD 736 YK.
It was gathered that they had been hired to transport the items to Agege.
Investigation also revealed the parts were allegedly stolen from vehicles parked at a nearby mechanic workshop. Two other suspects reportedly fled the scene and are currently being sought by the police.
Mechanics at the workshop later arrived to discover their missing items had been recovered by RRS operatives, who assured them that efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects were underway.
The RRS reaffirmed the squad’s commitment to apprehending all parties involved, adding that the arrested suspects are cooperating with ongoing investigations.
