Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has said that the club should sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton instead of a new striker.
Ferdinand wants Manchester United to push for the Cameroonian midfielder instead of going for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko is being linked with a move to United after the Slovenian racked up 39 goals and eight assists for the German Bundesliga side.
But Ferdinand claimed that the club should be looking at a midfielder with Baleba’s profile instead of an attacker.
He said via Rio Ferdinand Presents, “An Amorim-type player as well. Physically great, can drive with the ball, can take it in all areas, very good tactically, great energy, great legs, Premier League experience, centre midfield. Baleba.
“That’s who I go and get. That’s my man. I go and break the bank.”
The former defender said that the money from the sale of the likes of Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho should be enough for the club to sign Baleba from Brighton.
The trio and a few others have been put up for sale this summer and were dropped from Ruben Amorim’s squad for the pre-season tour.
