Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has explained why he didn’t play Rodrygo in his side’s LaLiga opener against Osasuna on Tuesday night.
Rodrygo was an unused substitute as Real Madrid defeated Osasuna 1-0 at home.
Kylain Mbappe scored the game’s only goal at the Santiago Bernabeu to give the Los Blancos all the points against the visitors.
When asked at his post-match press conference why Rodrygo didn’t play against Osasuna, Alonso said (via Madrid Zone): “Today was just one game.
“No analysis behind it. It was my decision. Rodrygo is in my plans.”
Rodrygo will now hope to feature for Real Madrid when they face Oviedo in their next game on Sunday.
The Brazilian winger has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid this summer, with Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea interested in signing him.
