Sokoto South senator, Aminu Tambuwal, has said he would support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to rule Nigeria over President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Tambuwal said Tinubu is no longer the same person during their days of fighting for democracy.
Featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday night, the former governor of Sokoto State said: “If Atiku is running and Bola Tinubu is, I will not support Tinubu, on Obi if that situation presents itself, I will decide.”
Tambuwal also declared that he won’t join the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The lawmaker explained that he does not believe in the way the APC is governing Nigeria.
“I will not join the APC, it’s a personal decision and I do not believe in the way the country is being run currently,” he said.
Tambuwal also recalled warning Nigerians about the current hardship under Tinubu during the build-up to the 2023 presidential election.
“I was the DG of Atiku’s campaign in 2023 and we went around this country to warn Nigerians against voting for Tinubu and his party.
“I can’t say that I’m disappointed because it’s clear he is appearing to be different from what I knew of him in the past when we collaborated.
“I saw the way APC was driving Nigeria to where it is today as far back in 201,8 and I left in August 2018,” he added.
