Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has paid homage to legendary managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger after his latest milestone in the English Premier League.

Guardiola said he hopes to celebrate his latest record with the two former Arsenal and Manchester United managers, respectively.

The Spaniard achieved 250 wins in the Premier League games in just 349 games when his side beat Brentford 1-0 on Sunday.

Erling Haaland scored the only goal as the Norwegian striker continued his superb run of form.

Guardiola has already won the Premier League six times as Manchester City boss.

Guardiola, who joined the club in the summer of 2016, recorded this achievement quickly than any other manager in the Premier League.

Ferguson took 404 matches to secure 250 wins for Manchester United in the Premier League, while Wenger waited for 423 games to do so with Arsenal.

Another manager with 250 wins, David Moyes of Everton, needed 645 games to do so.

Guardiola sent invitations to Ferguson and Wenger after joining them in an elite club.

“We won a lot!” Guardiola said, adding, “Otherwise, you cannot take this accolade without winning a lot of games. It’s an honour for me to be alongside Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, so I will invite them to a good dinner.

“Maybe not in Manchester, maybe somewhere with more sun. No, we’ll do it in Manchester. It’s an honour, a pleasure to be part of that in Premier League history.

“I want to say thank you to the club, the organisation, the players and the staff that I had because we did it quicker, faster, better and really, really pleased. Now, let’s go for 250 more.”

Manchester City’s win at Brentford saw them climb to fifth in the table, three points behind leaders Arsenal.
