The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has taken custody of Victor Benjamin Fajemirokun, the man accused of abducting and killing Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer Lasisi Funmilayo and her daughter, Sewa, in incidents that occurred in Ogun and Osun states.

Fajemirokun, 36, was arrested in Ghana on Sunday after fleeing Nigeria in an attempt to evade security operatives.

According to George Ohene-Boadi, Commander of the Eastern South Regional Police in Ghana, the arrest followed the circulation of a video alleging the suspect’s involvement in the abduction and murder.

Benjamin Hundyin, NPF spokesperson, in a statement released on Monday, confirmed that the fugitive had been formally handed over to Nigerian authorities.

“The Nigeria Police Force, through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, has taken full custody of fugitive suspect Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun,” the statement said.

Hundeyin noted that the handover followed a coordinated, multi-agency effort.

Ghanaian authorities, acting on intelligence that the suspect was hiding within their jurisdiction, apprehended him and immediately notified Interpol NCB Abuja, which dispatched a team to complete the extradition process in Accra.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun expressed condolences to the victims’ families, assuring the public that the investigation will be exhaustive.

He added that Fajemirokun will be charged in court once the probe is completed.

Egbetokun also commended the Ghana Police Service for its cooperation and professionalism throughout the operation.
