The eleven electricity distribution companies in Nigeria raked in N196.26 billion as revenue for September 2025.

This is according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s latest sectoral performance factsheet released on X on Friday.

The data showed that Eko, Abuja, and Ikeja DisCos maintained their positions as top performers in the period under review.

Out of N241.54 billion in electricity bills issued to customers in September, DisCos recovered N196.26 billion, marking a 2.69 percent rise in actual collection when compared with August. This pushed collection efficiency to 81.25 percent, up by 1.18 percent month-on-month.

According to the report, total energy received by the DisCos stood at N279.45 billion, out of which N241.54 billion was successfully billed to customers. This represents a billing efficiency of 86.43 percent, a 2.58 percent increase compared to August.

Aba Power posted a standout result with a 102.85 percent billing efficiency, attributed to enhanced energy optimisation and legacy debt recovery.

Benin, Port Harcourt, and Kano DisCos delivered moderate efficiencies, signalling gradual improvements.

Jos, Kaduna, and Yola DisCos continued to lag, with NERC noting significant room for improvement in their commercial operations.

NERC noted that improved commercial performance remains essential for sustaining investments, enhancing customer experience, and stabilising the sector.
