Manchester City’s midfielder, Rodri, might get a ban after being charged with misconduct by the Football Association (FA).
This comes after his remarks following City’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham on February 1.
After the game, Rodri was angry and said, “The referees have to be neutral.”
His comment suggested there was bias. According to the UK Mirror, referees have been pushing the FA to take serious action.
The Professional Game Match Officials Ltd (PGMOL) also wants strong action against players to ensure they respect officials.
The FA charge says: “It’s alleged that the midfielder acted improperly during a post-match media interview by making comments that imply bias and/or question the integrity of a match official and/or match officials, contrary to FA Rule 3.1.
“Rodri has until Wednesday, 18 February to provide a response.”
A potential ban could be a huge blow to City’s hopes as they chase down leaders Arsenal.
