Former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has congratulated Ademola Lookman for winning the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
Peseiro stated that Lookman deserved to go home with the prestigious award.
The Portuguese, who guided the Super Eagles to second position at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations also highlighted the role played by the winger’s teammates.
“Congratulations @molalookman on winning the CAF Player of the Year 2024 award! A well-deserved recognition of your incredible talent and your significance to Nigeria and African football,” Peseiro wrote on X.
“It is also important to highlight the role of the Nigerian national team, whose collective efforts contributed to this individual award, as well as the remarkable achievement of a Super Eagle winning the award for the second consecutive year, following @victorosimhen9 victory last year.
Many congratulations,” he added.
Lookman is the sixth Nigerian to win the award following in the footsteps of Rashidi Yekini, Emmanuel Amuneke, Victor Ikpeba, Kanu Nwankwo and Victor Osimhen.
