Real Madrid superstar, Kylian Mbappe has refused to back Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
Speaking to BILD, the France captain also admitted that Yamal is a very good player, but didn’t tip him for the Ballon d’Or because he’s from LaLiga rivals, Barcelona.
Both Mbappe and Yamal were nominated in the top 30 players to compete for the Ballon d’Or winner this year.
When asked if Yamal can win the Ballon d’Or this year, Mbappe said (via Le Parisien): “Lamine Yamal?
“He is a very good player, but he is from Barcelona. I can’t say anything.”
Yamal did very well last season for Barcelona, helping the Catalan club to reach the Champions League semi-final stage.
The Spain international also led the Blaugrana to win the LaLiga and Copa del Rey
