Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has highlighted two key deficiencies in his team ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 tie with Juventus on Tuesday.
Alonso watched as Real Madrid defeated RB Salzburg 3-0 in the early hours of Friday to qualify for the knockout stage.
Goals from Vinicius Junior, Valverde and Gonzalo Garcia gave Real Madrid the victory against the Austrian club.
Speaking after the game, Alonso said in his post-match interview that Real Madrid lacked more pressing and also they couldn’t play much in their opponent’s half.
As a result, the Los Blancos had to calm down, according to the Spaniard.
“In the second half, we wanted to attack faster, but we lacked more passing,” Alonso said (via Madrid Zone).
“We couldn’t play much in the opponent’s half. We had to calm down.”
Real Madrid will face Juventus in the Round of 16 fixture on Tuesday after finishing top of Group H.
