The Lagos State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive security deployment across the state to guarantee a safe and peaceful Easter celebration.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered the immediate mobilization of personnel and tactical units to maintain law and order during the holiday period.

The deployment includes conventional police officers, elite strike teams, and specialised tactical squads such as the Police Mobile Force, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squad, K9 units, and mounted troops.

These units have been strategically positioned at critical points across Lagos to deter crime and respond swiftly to any potential threats.

“All strategic locations across the length and breadth of Lagos State including the identified black spots and flash points” are being manned, the police said, to “prevent crime and criminality, remove fear of crimes from the mind of all Lagosians and visitors alike, and ensure hitch-free Easter celebrations this year and beyond.”

Special focus is being directed towards churches, entertainment spots, recreational centres, and other high-traffic public locations expected to witness large gatherings during the Easter celebrations.

These strategic areas will receive enhanced police presence to ensure public safety and deter any form of criminal activity.

To support this operation, officers have been equipped with vital logistics such as patrol vehicles and armoured personnel carriers, reinforcing the command’s readiness to swiftly address potential threats and maintain peace throughout the holiday period.

Olohundare Jimoh stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration, noting that the police would work closely with the military, paramilitary units, and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to safeguard lives and property.

He directed officers to conduct themselves with professionalism, remaining courteous, respectful of citizens’ rights, yet resolute in the performance of their duties.

The commissioner also urged members of the public to stay alert and cooperative, encouraging them to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station for immediate intervention.

Residents were reminded that any case of police misconduct should be directed to the Lagos State Command’s Complaint Response Unit for appropriate handling.
