Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has identified two key signings that could help save the Red Devils from a mid-table struggle this season.
According to Foster, Man United need to sign a ‘proper goalkeeper’ and should be targeting one of Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma or Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez to avoid finishing in the middle of the Premier League table this season.
Recall that Man United, who finished in 15th place last season, were defeated in their Premier League opener against Arsenal last weekend.
“It just forces Manchester United’s hand now to go and sign a proper goalkeeper,” Foster said of Bayindir’s shaky performance against Arsenal on his Ben Foster The Cycling GK YouTube channel.
“I think if you can get a Martinez or Donnarumma, then you have just got to do it now. You have got to do it.
“If you sign that player, then it’s going to be the difference between mid-table misery or pushing for that top si,x and I think if they can get that goalkeeper in, then they can push for the top six.
“I said in our predictions the other day that Manchester United could get a sneaky fourth or fifth, but that is on the proviso that they get a proper goalkeeper in,” he said.
