Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and Manchester United legend Gary Neville have identified Romeo Lavia as the player who makes the Blues a better team.
Lavia helped Chelsea beat newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Belgian midfielder was praised by Maresca and Neville following Chelsea’s victory against the Reds.
Lavia has been injured for most of the season. He suffered a Major Injury Blow ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League tie with Tottenham Hotspur a couple of weeks ago.
Speaking at his post-match interview after Chelsea defeated Liverpool, Maresca said: “Unfortunately, he [Lavia] has been injured for most of the season.
“You can see that the team with Romeo in is better. Hopefully we can now keep him fit until the end [of the season],” he said.
Discussing Lavia, Neville added on Sky Sports: “I like Romeo Lavia a lot.
“He needs to stay fit. I think if he can get a season under his belt, he can be Enzo Maresca’s number one midfield player.
“He is a go-to player and he makes a big difference; they are a better team when he is in there.”
