Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has warned his wingers and attacking midfielders to step up and score goals for the club.
According to Guardiola, the Cityzens cannot rely solely on Erling Haaland to score goals for the club.
The Spaniard spoke at his post-match interview after Haaland led Man City to beat Everton 2-0 in the Premier League.
Recall that a brace from Haaland gave Man City the victory against Everton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
“I am really pleased, not just for the incredible threat to the opponent but [that] we found him [Haaland] much more than the first half,” Guardiola told reporters after the game.
“That is really important, when you have these players, you have to use them.
“Erling lives for it. Our delivery of passes has been better, and Erling is our key man right now.
“[I’m] disappointed he did not score four or five. All jokes aside, really pleased, but we can not rely on just him; we need other players [to score]—wingers, attacking midfielders.
“They have to make a step up and score goals. We play to provide Erling with quality and passing, but other players have to step up.”
Haaland has scored 11 of Man City’s 17 Premier League goals so far this season.
Aside from the Norwegian, only Phil Foden, Matheus Nunes, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki have scored for Guardiola’s side.
