Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has declared Arsenal’s squad ‘undoubtedly’ the best in the Premier League.
According to the Premier League record goalscorer, the Gunners remain the only consistent team in the league.
He noted that every other team has had some sort of up and down, but Arsenal have remained stable.
Shearer told Betfair that “Arsenal have got the strongest squad, there’s no doubt, and they’ve had injuries, but you wouldn’t have thought that, because of the quality of players that come in.”
The Gunners would look to extend their lead in the Premier League to nine points this weekend with a win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Shearer pointed out that for a player like Noni Madueke to return from injury and score against Bayern Munich at mid-week shows that the Gunners are loaded.
Arsenal have been the standout team by an absolute mile at the moment. In every competition, basically, in the Champions League and in the league.”
The Gunners have only been defeated once this season, and that was by the champions, Liverpool.
Arsenal’s opponents, Chelsea, are now being seen as possible challengers for the title this season, and a victory against the Gunners on Sunday could further convince their doubters.
However, many pundits and football followers have tipped Arsenal to beat Chelsea and extend their lead in the league.
Going into the game, Arsenal beat Bayern Munich 3-1 at the Emirates on Wednesday, while Chelsea defeated Barcelona 3-0 in the Champions League.
