Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has confirmed he did not take Marcus Rashford off against FC Porto because of injury.
Speaking after the 3-3 draw in the Europa League, Ten Hag claimed that his decision was down to “rotation”.
Rashford opened the scoring in the game and provided the assist for Rasmus Hojlund to make it 2-0.
However, he did not make it out for the second half, as Ten Hag brought on Alejandro Garnacho to take his place.
“We have to rotate. Garnacho, we didn’t start him, but he had a great game not only Sunday but the whole season,” Ten Hag told TNT Sports.
“We go quickly with a turnaround to Villa and they have had a day longer to recover and we have an away game.”
United, who are 13th on the Premier League table, are away at Villa Park on Sunday.
