Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Joash Amupitan, on Saturday, visited some Poling Units during the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Area Council election.

At Polling Unit 016, one of those visited by the INEC boss in Area 8, the All Progressives Congress, APC, party agent, Stephen Osadebe, complained of voter apathy and the late arrival of sensitive materials.

Our Correspondent reveals that the ground found that some of the INEC ad-hoc workers were not even provided with chairs or tables to do their work.

One of the ad-hoc workers, a member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, who spoke to our reporter, said the turnout was not impressive, “It’s not been very good. But not very poor,’ she said.

APC agent, Steven Osadebe, said, “Yeah, we have a lot of voter apathy, which we’re not comfortable with. The Polling Units here have over 3000 people, and only 30 will be coming out. So the electoral body has a lot to do with bringing out the people to choose a leader. We cannot just choose a leader with slow votes. Sensitisation will need to take place within a month.

“The votes must count. That’s why INEC is here. The vote will count, but when they don’t come out, then how do we get our leaders? So I believe the electoral political parties with INEC were what is just a billion to bring out a leader. INEC is the one in charge of bringing the system.”https://urbanexpresslive.com/electoral-act-kukah-centre-cnpp-yiaga-africa-adc-others-blast-tinubu/

The INEC Chairman, while responding to the party agents, said the Commission was working towards achieving smooth elections.
