A record total of 45,638 fans were in attendance at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, when the Super Eagles took on Russia in a friendly at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, on Friday night, Urban Express News Online  reports

According to the Russian Football Union, RFU, it was the highest crowd for a Russian home game in six years.

The record was only surpassed by Russia’s Euro 2000 qualifier against Belgium in November 2019 at the Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg, which was watched by 53,317.

The friendly with Nigeria was Russia’s first game at the Luzhniki Stadium since the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Croatia in September 2021.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw with Semi Ajayi conceding an own goal in the 27th minute.
