Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle, has singled out Russia striker, Nikolay Komlichenko, who wore the number 9 jersey, for praise following both sides’ international friendly 1-1 draw on Friday.
Chelle also hailed Olakunle Olusegun, who made his debut for Nigeria against Russia.
The Malian said Olusegun is very fast and has many advantages, while Komlichenko stood out during the encounter at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow.
“The Russian team has a lot of good players. I would especially like to mention number 9 – he stood out,” Chelle said at his post-match interview after the game.
He added on Olusegun: “He has many advantages: he is very fast, does not lose the ball, has a strong character.
“But, like any player, he needs to continue working and developing.”
Urban Express News Online reports that Russia took the lead after Semi Ajayi conceded an own goal to give Valery Karpin’s side the lead after 27 minutes.
Chelle’s side found their way back with substitute Tolu Arokodare restoring parity for the visitors in the 71st minute.
