A fresh batch of 390 Nigerian migrants, who had been stranded in Niger Republic, were repatriated to Nigeria on Tuesday.

The group, which consisted of 387 adult males, two adult females, and one infant boy, arrived at the Nigeria Immigration Training School in Kano at 1:05 a.m.

Hon. Tijjani Ahmed, the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), welcomed the returnees and assured them of the Federal Government’s commitment to reintegrating them through various empowerment programs.

This marks the third batch of returnees from the Niger Republic, following a similar repatriation in December 2024, which saw the return of 702 stranded Nigerians. Between February and December 2023, the Nigerian Government facilitated the repatriation of 5,219 citizens from Niger, Libya, and other countries.

A team of officials from the NCFRMI, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), IOM, and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) were present to receive the returnees.

They were promptly registered and profiled to ensure they had access to reintegration support programs.
