How Motorcycle Killed By-stander In Ogun Metropolis

A yet-to-be identified female pedestrian has been knocked down and killed by a motorcyclist along Lafenwa road, in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

The accident which happened at about 7p.m on Sunday, involved a TVS motorcycle registered as Ogun GBE 566 VC and ridden by 25-year-old Kabiru Sanni.

Our Correspondent learnt that the pedestrian, whose name, age, and address remain unknown, was knocked down while crossing the road.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, told Urban Express News Online  that the victim sustained
severe head injury and died while receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi Aba, Abeokuta.

She said,” The Ogun State Police Command regrets to report a tragic accident that occurred on March 9, 2025, at about 7:00 PM, along Lafenwa Road, Abeokuta, involving a 25-year-old motorcyclist named Kabiru Sanni of Agbo Afoju, Sabo, Abeokuta, and an unidentified female pedestrian.

“The pedestrian, whose name, age, and address remain unknown, was knocked down while crossing the road due to the reckless riding of the motorcyclist.

“She sustained a severe head injury and was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi Aba, Abeokuta, where she sadly passed away while receiving treatment”.

Odutola stated the corpse had been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and identification.

She added that the reckless motorcyclist has been detained, and the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) is conducting further investigations into the accident.

Odutola, however, urged motorcycle riders and road users to adhere strictly to traffic laws to prevent avoidable road accidents.
