Operatives of the Warewa division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Sherif Oyeniyi for allegedly attacking a motorcyclist with a razor blade and inflicting severe deep cuts on his neck in Arepo area of the state.

The victim, a 27-year-old motorcyclist identified as Ahmed Owolabi, was conveying the suspect to his destination when the incident occurred.

Confirming the incident to Urban Express News Online on Saturday, the Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that the incident happened at about 4:15 pm.

Odutola noted that upon the information, the Warewa Divisional Police Officer quickly transported the victim to a hospital for medical attention and arrested the suspect.

She stated that upon interrogation, the suspect reportedly whispered that he had previously visited a native doctor, and when questioned if a blood token was required, he said it was the handwork of the devil.

The police spokesperson said, “On January 11, 2025, at about 4:15 PM, Alani Muritala, a resident of Shefu Elede Ibafo, came to the police station to report that his brother, Ahmed Owolabi, a 27-year-old motorcyclist from Onimane Magada Ibafo, had been injured by Sherif Oyeniyi.

“The complainant stated that while Ahmed a commercial motorcyclist was conveying Sherif to his destination, in Arepo and nearing Sherif’s residence at Orange Estate, Sherif attacked him with a razor blade, inflicting severe deep cuts on his neck in two separate locations.

“The suspect has been taken into custody for questioning. Notably, the suspect displayed no remorse for his actions but muttered he had earlier visited a seer otherwise known as a voodoo doctor.

“He was interrogated if the doctor required blood token or initiation, and he replied by saying “it was the devil’s handiwork”.

Odutola disclosed that the investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged in court as soon as it is completed.
