How Operatives Arrested 239 Suspects For Armed Robbery, Kidnapping In Kogi

The Nigeria Police force has arrested 239 suspects for kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, cultism, culpable homicide and other degrees of crimes in Kogi State.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, disclosed this during his maiden press briefing held at the command headquarters in Lokoja.

Dantawaye dismissed the claim that the Nigeria Police force is already overwhelmed with the security situation in Kogi State noting that the fight against crimes and criminalities is on course.

Giving a breakdown of the recent achievements recorded by the command in the ongoing onslaught against criminal elements terrorizing innocent people of Kogi State from February 2025 to date, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police said “66 suspects were arrested for armed robbery, 75, (kidnapping), 18, (culpable homicide), 21 (unlawful possession of fire arms), 4, (rape), 6, (cultism), and 49 were arrested for other offences.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include five AK-47 rifles, two AK-49 rifles, nine magazine, 344 Rounds of 7.62/39mm Ammunition, 62 Rounds of 5.56mm Ammunition two Rounds of 7.62/59mm Ammunition.

Other exhibits recovered from the suspects are one locally made revolver Barrel gun, one (1) Black Pump Action Magazine, nine expended AK Ammunition, seven (7) Expended Cartridges, Two Pump Action Guns and Two Locally made Pistols.

“These achievements were due to the proactive strategies rooted in intelligence-led policing and robust interaction with the various stakeholders of our communities, particularly in the area of information sharing, since it has become obvious that security is all stakeholders’ affairs” he noted.

While soliciting for more cooperation from the good people of Kogi State to provide credible and timely information to the Police, Dantawaye assured the renewed commitment of the command to sustain the tempo of fight against criminality in Kogi State.

He urged all Kogites particularly Traditional rulers, Religious leaders, Opinion leaders, Youth groups, Market bodies, Farmers, herders Vigilantes, Hunters, Transport union, Okada union, Tricycle union, among others, for their maximum support in the fight against criminality in Kogi State.
