The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully uncovered an illegal factory producing adulterated soya bean oil in the Maraban Jos area of the state.

The raid was carried out by operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) on May 5, following a tip-off from a concerned source.

In a statement released on Wednesday, police spokesman Mansir Hassan revealed that the factory was located on a fenced plot of land along Mamadi Road in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

He said that three suspects were arrested at the scene: Zailani Shuaibu (33), the owner of the illegal factory; Nasiru Usman (24); and Salisu Usman (49).

During the raid, several items were seized as evidence, including two drums containing suspected raw materials, fifteen 25-litre jerry cans filled with unfinished products, and two 25-litre jerry cans of finished adulterated soya bean oil.

These exhibits will be used in the ongoing investigation and in court proceedings.

“The operation led to the discovery of the illegal factory, and we recovered several exhibits that will be used as evidence in court,” said Hassan, confirming that the police are working diligently to uncover the full scope of the illegal operation.

He added that the case is currently under investigation at the SID Headquarters in Kaduna.

The police are focusing on identifying and dismantling the broader network behind this illegal factory and bringing all individuals involved to justice.

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabi’u Muhammad, emphasised the Command’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring that those involved in criminal activities, particularly those that endanger public safety, are held accountable.

“The Kaduna State Police Command is committed to protecting the public and ensuring that those who engage in criminal activities are brought to justice,” he stated.

The Commissioner also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

“Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and report such activities to the nearest police station,” he said.

The Kaduna Police’s swift action in uncovering this illegal operation underscores their continued commitment to tackling criminal activities and protecting the well-being of citizens.
