Kaduna State Police Command said its personnel have arrested two suspected gunrunners and recovered eight locally made pump-action guns, one locally made pistol, and 65 live cartridges in a crackdown on illegal arms trafficking.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Mansir Hassan, the suspects include Zubairu Musa, 40, and Nasiru Saidu, 17, both from Kankara local government area of Katsina State.

The PPRO said they were intercepted by officers of the 47 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Zaria, adding that they were cooperating with authorities to expose other members of the syndicate and their operational scope.

He said while acting on credible intelligence, the officers stopped the suspects during a routine patrol along the Zaria-Jos Road on December 5, 2024, at about 11:35 am, and that the suspects were found with a bag containing the firearms and ammunition, which preliminary investigations revealed were being trafficked as part of an illegal arms network
