Police in Jigawa State have arrested seven people over suspected cases of tricycle snatching and drug trafficking in the state.

Spokesman of the command, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to Urban Express News Online on Tuesday.

He said the suspects were arraigned based on an intelligence gathering and well-coordinated raid in the state.

According to the statement, “On 1st August 2025, following credible intelligence, the Command intercepted and arrested Nazifi Ahmad and Salma Haruna over suspected tricycle snatching in Taura town.”

“The stolen tricycle was recovered alongside other incriminating items used during the commission of the offence, including a master key, rope, and intoxicating substances.

SP. Shiisu added that the police also arrested five persons over alleged drug trafficking across the state.

According to him, “On the 2nd of August, 2025, operatives attached to Kiyawa Divisional Police Headquarters, acting on credible intelligence, conducted well-coordinated raids at Kiyawa motor park and Gidan Kara Quarters within Kiyawa town.

“The operation led to the arrest of five suspects: Sama’ila Haruna, Sani Abdullahi, Abba Sunusi, Sadik Ibrahim, Isyaku Ibrahim, all of Kiyawa town.”

“One hundred and eighty-four (184) pieces of D-5 tablets and two hundred seventy-five (275) pieces of exol tablets were recovered during the raid.”

Shiisu said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were actively involved in the distribution and consumption of illegal drugs, thereby contributing to criminality and social vices within the area.

He said all the suspects were currently in custody and will be charged in court upon completion of a discreet investigation.
