The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has raised the alarm over the circulation of sweets suspected to contain intoxicating substances, urging parents to monitor what their children consume.

Speaking to Newsmen in Kano, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, ASN Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, said the alert became necessary after reports indicated that the candies, which look like regular chocolate, may contain harmful substances that intoxicate consumers.

“These sweets are being sold to unsuspecting children, especially when they go to school,” Maigatari revealed.

He urged parents to be vigilant and watch for any unusual changes in their children’s behaviour.

“Parents should be on the lookout for sudden changes in their children’s eating habits and sleeping patterns,” he advised.

The agency assured the public of its commitment to tracking down the perpetrators and keeping harmful substances out of the reach of vulnerable groups.
